Summer Faculty-Directed Programs
User Image About Carmen Pitz:
As an International Coordinator in the Faculty-Directed Programs Unit, Carmen works with faculty and staff in the School of International Letters and Cultures, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and the College of Public Service and Community Solutions. Carmen holds a Master of Science in Global Higher Education (Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education and Art Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Before joining the team in ASU’s Study Abroad Office, Carmen worked with faculty in Curriculum and Instruction and staff in International Student Services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught high school Spanish for 12 years and during this time also planned and led short term study abroad experiences for her students to Mexico, France, and Spain. During the summers, Carmen worked with the Experiment in International Living to lead summer study abroad experiences for high school students in Spain and Argentina. From all of these opportunities and her own undergraduate semester-long study abroad in Spain, Carmen gained an appreciation for the impact these experiences have on personal development. She hopes that her teamwork with faculty and staff can help support this development in students at ASU!
