Manager, Marketing and Publicity
As the Manager of Marketing and Publicity for the Study Abroad Office, Carrie is responsible for the strategy and execution behind garnering more student interest and participation for study abroad. With the assistance of other marketing and communications staff, including peer advisors and student recruiters, she creates, oversees and executes marketing strategy both on and offline at the multiple ASU campuses.
Before joining the ASU Study Abroad Office, Carrie worked a number of roles related to international education and the student experience, including as a faculty member at a small liberal arts college in Minnesota and an editor for various meaningful travel and study abroad organizations. Carrie holds an M.A. degree from the University of New Mexico in Intercultural Communication and a dual B.A. degree in Spanish and Communication Studies from Winona State University.
Carrie’s first experience abroad was in France during high school complete with a Parisian family homestay. Once a college student, she declared a major in Spanish and was incessantly on the pursuit of cultural immersion that led to her fluency in the language now. Her own experiences as a first generation college student fuel her passion for helping ASU students see study abroad not only as possibility, but as a necessity. She was fortunate to study abroad in Granada, Spain, and Quito, Ecuador; to intern abroad in Córdoba, Argentina; to teach abroad in Roquetas de Mar, Spain; and to work abroad in Mérida, Mexico.
