Walk-in advising hours will be available for spring 2018 program applicants as noted below leading up to the September 25th application deadline. Please keep in mind, walk-in hours are first come, first served, so please plan accordingly. As a reminder, some study abroad programs have early application deadlines and/or they can fill to capacity prior to the September 25th application deadline! Do not wait to start an application!
  • Friday, September 8th from 9-10:30am
  • Tuesday, September 12th from 9-11:00am
  • Monday, September 18th from 1:00-3:00pm
  • Tuesday, September 19th from 9-11:00am
  • Thursday, September 21st from 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Friday, September 22nd from 9:00-11:00am and 1:00-3:00pm
  • Monday, September 25th from 1-3:00pm

 As the Program Manager for Partnership, Exchange and Global Internship Programs, Shira is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of the Partnership and Exchange unit.  She works with students pursuing partnership, exchange and internship programs in Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Sweden and Switzerland. 

Prior to joining the Arizona State University (ASU) Study Abroad Office (SAO) in 2015, Shira spent five years working in academic affairs for a private study abroad organization in Phoenix, AZ, where she provided centralized coordination for global academic operations, and oversaw academic advising initiatives.

A former Sun Devil, Shira holds a Master’s degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from ASU and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from York College of Pennsylvania.  As an undergraduate she studied abroad in London, England, where she first developed a passion for international education.  She has since traveled throughout England, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Mexico and the Caribbean, and enjoys helping students find ways to make study abroad a reality.

Burns, S. (2010, March).  Rethinking the Framework of Facebook in Higher Education. Presented at Arizona State University Higher & Post-Secondary Education Poster Consortium.
