Office Assistant
The ASU Study Abroad Office (SAO) is searching for an energetic and hard-working student to join our staff as a Student Office Assistant. The position will begin in mid-January. Qualified applicants must be available to work the remainder of the spring 2014 semester, with the flexibility to continue working through the summer and upcoming fall 2014 semester. This Office Assistant will be responsible for clerical duties, front desk coverage, phone coverage, campus errands, data entry and special projects. Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate communication, processing, data entry and record keeping. Maintain professionalism, respect, competency, and confidentiality at all times while representing the SAO over the phone and in-person. We are looking for an organized, mature, detail-oriented and culturally aware individual who would like to learn more about international education while supporting the administrative staff of the SAO. Beneficial experience for all majors and career interests. Applicants must be available for a minimum of 15 - 20 hours per week during office hours (Mon - Fri, 8:00am - 5:00pm). Applicant should have experience with Microsoft Office applications, answering phones, scanning documents and data entry. Demonstrated customer service experience required, must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments from multiple staff, heavy lifting required on occasions, international or study abroad experience desired but not required, and a valid driver's license is required to make daily errand runs to various locations on campus using the department cart (cart training will be provided). Peer Advisor
Applicants MUST have previously studied abroad on an ASU Study Abroad Office program. No other applicants will be considered. Student Peer Advisors offer walk-in advising for students interested in studying abroad, which involves answering basic questions about program options, explaining the application process, finding information on the website, etc. Peer Advisors conduct PowerPoint presentations for students interested in studying abroad at the Study Abroad Office, in classrooms, and at other locations. Peer Advisors also staff information tables and assist at events. Additional duties include responding to emails, answering the phone, and completing general clerical tasks. In particular, the Study Abroad Office is seeking a Peer Advisor with a keen visual eye for design and exceptional written communication skills, potentially used to create e-newsletters, Prezi presentations, and other pieces. Experience in graphic design and/or visual communication a plus. Peer Advisors must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and provide quality service to students. A valid driver's license is recommended to utilize the department’s cart for outreach events (cart training will be provided). Hours are M-F (9am-5pm) and Peer Advisors typically work 10-15 hours/week. Occasional evening/weekend hours may be requested. Preference will be given to students who can work Tuesdays, Thursdays, and potentially Fridays during Spring Semester 2014. Business Office Assistant
Duties are varied and less routine and involve a moderate degree of responsibility and judgment. May lead or coordinate activities of other student employees. This position will be responsible for clerical assistance to the Study Abroad Business Unit and will report to the Faculty Directed Business Manager. Duties are technical and complex and involve a high degree of responsibility and judgment. Assist with compiling financial data into various excel reports, payment processing, student fee confirmation, assist with program budget reconciliation, assist with monthly reconciliation of accounts, assist with travel and salary processing, assist with salary reconciliation, reconcile monthly p-card, copying and filing, data entry. Requires a person that is detail oriented, takes initiative in their work, is organized and will follow through. Work hours are 10-15 hours per week and requires use of computers, large amounts of data entry and reviewing numbers within spreadsheets. Desired Qualifications: Accounting or Finance major preferred, experience drafting professional documents and correspondence, proficient in the English language (written and oral), proficient in Microsoft Excel, preference given to students willing to work over the summer, bi-lingual students preferredRequisition ID: 854BR
