The Dushanbe program builds on the experience of students in the intensive Uzbek/Tajik summer-session courses held on ASU's Tempe campus in June and July. (The program is also open to other eligible students). Before submitting your application on this site, you must first apply at the Critical Languages Institute (COOR Hall 4469) or at the Melikian Center (COOR Hall 4456). $275.00 deposit fee required for enrollment.

Dushanbe is the capital city of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Eligibility
CLI Intensive Language Uzbek/Tajik and the CLI Dushanbe program are open to undergraduate, graduate and non-degree students. Apllicants are expected to have completed at least one summer in the ASU Critical Languages Institute Uzbek/Tajik program or to have equivalent experience (usually at least two semesters of Uzbek/Tajik language study).
Academic Program
Under the guidance of university faculty in Dushanbe, students participate in intensive language coursework, excursions, field trips, and instruction on history and culture of the region and country. Participants receive two ASU credits for successful completion of the program (SLC 494).

Living Accommodations
Participants will be living with local host families (2 participants per family) who have been selected by the program director. All host families live within walking distance of the instructional location.
Cost Information
Tuition is waived for the Dushanbe program. Applicants will be charged a $275 non-refundable program deposit. Program fees of $1200 includes tuition, 2 meals/day with the host family, housing and excursions. Program fees do not include airfaire, visas, passports or personal expenses. Please bring at least $250 for food costs and discretionary expenses.
Fellowships are available. See http://cli.asu.edu for details. Financial aid may be used for CLI summer coursework. Students should apply for financial aid through their home institutions.
