The cultural center of Armenia, Yerevan boasts countless museums, galleries, libraries, and churches, as well as the country's most prestigious university, Yerevan State.

CLI Intensive Language Armenian and the CLI Yerevan program are open to undergraduates, graduate students, and non-degree students. Applicants are expected to have completed at least one summer in the ASU Critical Languages Institute Armenian program or to have equivalent experience (usually at least two semesters of Armenian language study).

Students participating in the Yerevan program are encouraged to attend intensive Armenian courses in the ASU Critical Languages Institute, held on the Tempe campus in June and July, immediately before the Yerevan program. The CLI offers tuition-free eight-week, eight-credit programs in elementary, intermediate, and advanced Armenian. See http://cli.asu.edu for details.

Academic Program

The Yerevan program builds on the experience of students in the intensive Armenian summer-session courses held on ASU's Tempe campus in June and July. (The program is also open to other eligible students.) Under the guidance of CLI faculty, students participate in intensive language coursework, excursions, field trips, and instruction on the history of culture of ancient and modern Armenia. Participants receive two ASU credits for successful completion of the practicum (SLC 494).
