The Critical Languages Institute, a program of the ASU Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies, offers a three-week study-abroad program in Poznan for students of intermediate and advanced Polish. Before submitting your application on this site, you must first apply at the Critical Languages Institute (COOR Hall 4469) or at the Melikian Center (COOR Hall 4456). Locations

Poznan is an exquisite renaissance town and the capital of the most affluent province in the country. The oldest section of the city, Ostrwo Tumski (built in 10th-11th century AD) gave rise to the Polish state. Poznan is also a research and university center where 120,000 students are currently enrolled in 19 state and private institutions. The practicum is run through one of the largest of these, Adam Mickiewicz University.

Eligibility

CLI Intensive Language Polish and the CLI Poznan program are open to undergraduates, graduate students, and non-degree students. Applicants are expected to have completed at least one summer in the ASU Critical Languages Institute Polish program or to have equivalent experience (usually at least two semesters of Polish language study).

Academic Program

In Poznan, students participate in intensive language coursework, excursions, field trips, and instruction on the history and culture of ancient and modern Poland. Participants receive two ASU credits for successful completion of the practicum (SLC 494).

Living Accommodations

Participants live in dormitories of Adam Mickiewicz University in the center of town.

Cost Information

Tuition is waived for the Poznan Program. Applicants will be charged a $275 non-refundable deposit. Program fees of $1080 include tuition, housing, and excursions. Program fees do not include airfare, visas, passports, meals or personal expenses. Please bring at least $250 for food expenses.
