International Business Seminar

If you are not currently enrolled at ASU, you must apply for admission at ASU before completing the Study Abroad online application.

After completing the Seminar in International Business, students will be able to: describe the complexities of doing business globally; explain how cultural differences impact global business processes, such as supply chain, market size, distribution channels, advertising , environmental issues, management issues, and ethical business practices; describe the European Union, its history, its foundations, its institutions, and key issues regarding expansion and its future; understand and appreciate how exchange rates, i.e., dollar versus Euro, affect trade flows, facilities development, outsourcing, labor laws, and purchasing patterns.

Program Cost: $6,330
$400.00 deposit fee required for enrollment. Tuition and fees are not included with the program cost.

Locations

MUNICH MAY 17-21
Tour of Munich; includes the Dachau Memorial site, Audi in Ingolstadt, Munich Messe (Main Trade Fair Organization) and HypoVereinsbank/Unicredit Group

INNSBRUCK MAY 21-24
Students will visit Swarovski Crystal (en-route), Innsbruck Tourist Board, Tyrolean Evening, and Lantern Hike & Mountain Viewing. The students will have a couple of free days at this location.

FLORENCE MAY 24-27
Walking tour of the city, Florence/Cultural Immersion, GE Nuovo Pignone, Targetti Sankey and the Lighting Academy.

NICE MAY 27-30
Visit with Abiogen Pharma in the city of Pisa (en-route). Students will get a free day to enjoy the French Riviera/Cultural Immersion. Students will visit Parfumerie Fragonard and Monaco/Monte Carlo and the Royal Palace.

AVIGNON MAY 30-31
On the way from Nice to Paris, students will make a one-day stop in Avignon. They will visit Pont du Gard.

PARIS MAY 31-JUNE 4
Students will tour the city of Paris, visit Fidelity Investments, Apple Computer France, and World Bank/OECD.

LONDON JUNE 4-8
Students will travel to London by Eurostar Train. They will visit the Bank of England, Lloyd's of London Insurance Market, and AEG/The O2 Center. Students will have a free day to enjoy the city.

Eligibility

Applications with a $400 non-refundable deposit are due on or before April 15, 2008.

Academic Program

Students will work with a large group in an intense working environment to accomplish seminar goals, via the development of leadership skills, teamwork skills, as well as networking with colleagues domestically and businesses/employers internationally.

Living Accommodations

Participants will be lodged in hotels in downtown areas near the major sights. Students will learn to ride the metro/tube transportation systems.

Cost Information

The cost of $6,337 (subject to change) includes program fees, airfare, hotels, transportation to each city and breakfasts. Not included: ASU tuition and fees, passport fees, lunches and dinners, schools supplies, and other personal expenses.

The Program may allow for time which can be spent in non-Program activities. Participants may wish to travel, sightsee or participate in activities or events in which they have a personal interest. Please note that the participant is fully responsible for making arrangements and for all costs of transportation, lodging, food and additional expenses that may be associated with any non-Program activities.
