LYON
With a population of over a million, Lyon is the second largest city in France after Paris. Founded in 43 B.C., the city is very rich in history and architecture, and famous for its culinary traditions. On top of its Roman theaters and its famous Renaissance district, Lyon is the home of the second largest French university attracting more than 130,000 students. Centrally located in the heart of Europe, Lyon is minutes away from the great wine regions of Beaujolais, Burgundy, and Côte du Rhône, and just a few hours from Paris, the French Riviera, Switzerland, and the French Alps.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enthusiastic and motivated students, able to adapt to a French-speaking environment and serious about immersing themselves in French language and culture. One semester of college French is required. The program is limited to 20 participants and it is a competitive application process. In addition, all applicants will be interviewed to determine compatibility with the program. Applications with a $275 non-refundable deposit are due on or before February 4, 2008. Applications will be accepted after that date on a space available basis. Participation decisions will be made in mid- to late February. All students will be notified as to their program status and students not selected to participate, will receive a full program deposit refund.
