The W. P. Carey MBA is pleased to offer this new international elective in one of the most dynamic and compelling regions of the world: The Balkans - Transitioning Southeast Europe. Students will visit cultural landmarks (UNESCO sites such as Dubrovnik and the Parthenon), businesses (local and global), Governments (U.S. Embassy commercial attaché), and will participate in academic seminars (University of Zagreb, Aristotle University).

$1,100.00 deposit fee required for enrollment.
Tuition and fees are not included with the program cost.

Locations
SARAJEVO, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA - MAY 12 - 15 (depart Phoenix on May 12, arrive in Sarajevo, May 13)
This portion of the program will include a city orientation, lectures at the University of Sarajevo, and business/government visits.
DUBROVNIK, CROATIA - MAY 15 - 20
This segment of the course includes visits to Mostar and Medjugorje while in transit via coach from Sarajevo to Dubrovnik; orientation and city tour; lectures, business/government visits, and a reception; and free day with optional field excursions to islands, Montenegro, etc.
ATHENS, GREECE - MAY 20 - 24
The final leg of the trip includes a visit to the merchant district, the Plaka; a lecture at the agora and organized visits to the acropolis (including the Parthenon), the Temple of Zeus, the National Museum, and other "must see" city sites; and a free day with optional trips to the Temple of Poseiden/Sounion, Island of Aegina, etc.
The potential itinerary may also include additional visits to locations in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and/or Turkey. These excursions will be chosen by the professor depending on cost, business opportunities, and political developments.

Enrollment is limited to students currently enrolled in the ASU W.P. Carey School of Business MBA Graduate Program. Those MBA students who have already been selected to participate must submit an application with a $1100 first payment ($100 nonrefundable) by December 21st.
Academic Program
The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the interactive concepts of marketing, political economy, and culture, and appropriate business practices at the corporate, national, transnational and global levels. Outcomes will include: 1) insights on effective marketing and management decision making in distinct Southeast European contexts, and 2) unique and unforgettable life experiences with cultural immersion.
The program will be comprised of one Spring 2008 class, IBS 594: CW: Transitioning Southeast European Business Environment (3), and the following 3 credit hour Summer 2008 study abroad course which all students will be enrolled in for a grand total of 6 credit hours:

Living Accommodations
Students will be housed based on double occupancy in all 3 locations. Breakfast included daily as well as some lunches and dinners.
Cost Information
The cost of $3300 (subject to possible change) includes hotel accommodations based on double occupancy; daily breakfast, some lunches and dinners; local transportation; flight from Dubrovnik to Athens; cultural experiences and associated entry fees (if any); and an International Student Identity Card (ISIC). Not included: ASU tuition and fees, airfare to fly from Phoenix to Sarajevo and return from Athens (approximately $1550), airport/hotel transfers upon arrival to Sarajevo and departure from Athens, some lunches & dinners, airport departure taxes, and personal expenses/additional leisure activities.
The Program may allow for time which can be spent in non-Program activities. Participants may wish to travel, sightsee or participate in activities or events in which they have a personal interest. Please note that the participant is fully responsible for making arrangements and for all costs of transportation, lodging, food and additional expenses that may be associated with any non-Program activities.
