May 10 to June 18, 2008
Arizona State University offers a combination package of study and travel in China. The first four weeks are an intensive Dance Program in Beijing, and the last week is an adventurous and educational cultural excursion. Participants will depart for China on May 10, 2008, study in Beijing until June 6, and start the journey to Lhasa, Xi'an and Hong Kong returning to the U.S. on June 18, 2008. Students may earn 8 credits upon completion of this program.

Dance is deeply embedded in Chinese cultural heritage. Beijing, the capital city of the People's Republic of China with over 13 million people, claims the best collection of China's treasures of the past. It is home to Capital Normal University, where our summer dance program will be held, and to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace. Within easy reach are the Great Wall, the famous Qing East & West Tombs, and many other historically significant and scenic sites.
CULTURAL EXCURSIONS IN CHINA - JUNE 6 - 18
First we will visit the site of the Potala Palace, Barkhor Street, Jokang Lamasery and Yamdork Ymtso Lake in Lhasa then we will visit Bell Tower, Shaanxi Provincial Historial Museum, Terra - cotta Warriors, Huaqing Hot Spring, Banpo Museum and Big Wild Goose Pagoda Ancient City Wall in Xi'an. From there, we will fly to Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, for a two-day visit before returning home.
Eligibility
Eligibility is extended to the motivated student who is willing to be adventurous, meet the academic challenge, and experience different customs, foods and ways of life. Students from other universities in the U.S. are welcome to apply.
Applications with a $325 non-refundable deposit are due on or before February 4, 2008, but applications will be accepted after that date on a space-available basis.

Students may take 6-8 credits during the program, but they must enroll in at least 6 credits to participate.

Living Accommodations
Participants will be housed (double occupancy) in a student residence hall in Beijing and in hotels (double occupancy) during the cultural excursion portion.
Cost Information
The cost of $4,568 (subject to change) includes program fees, airfare to/from China, housing and meals in Beijing, and airport exit fees. Not included: ASU tuition and fees, visa fees, medical insurance (required), photos for ISIC cards, meals during the cultural excursion portion of the program, and personal and individual expenses.
The Program may allow for time which can be spent in non-Program activities. Participants may wish to travel, sightsee or participate in activities or events in which they have a personal interest. Please note that the participant is fully responsible for making arrangements and for all costs of transportation, lodging, food and additional expenses that may be associated with any non-Program activities.
