More Information
Locations
FLORENCE
Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, has grown from the Etruscan-Roman period to a city of about 600,000. It is situated in central Italy only a few hours by train from such cities as Pisa, Rome, Naples, and Milan. Besides visiting the many museums and historical sites in Florence, students may also take advantage of the varied cultural events--concerts, films, operas, and historical festivals--which the city offers during the summer.
Eligibility
Applicants must be serious students, 18 years of age or older, and willing to be adventurous, meet new people, and interact in a foreign culture with maturity and an open mind. A GPA of 2.50 or better is required. Due to the age and infrastructure of the location, Florence, Italy, students must be able to walk unaided for a distance of at least one mile. Florence is a Renaissance city with streets paved with cobble stones, which certainly contributes to its quaint beauty and historical atmosphere, but which may present problems to those who are unused to walking as a means of transportation, and especially on uneven surfaces. Application deadline is February 1, 2008. Applications received after that date will be considered on a space available basis. If interested in applying, please got to http://www.public.asu.edu/~atpmb/florence_site/forms.htm to access the program application.
