For the second time, Barrett, the Honors College at ASU will join together with the School of Global Studies to offer an incredible five-week study tour of mainland China. Specifically designed for students with no specialized background, this program provides a comprehensive introduction to China's traditional civilization, as well as the dynamic changes globalization has induced. Visiting several distinct regions, participants will experience all aspects of Chinese life: palaces and pagodas; skyscrapers and nature preserves; industry and art. Special emphasis will be placed on meeting locals and giving students a chance to reflect on China's challenges and prospects first hand.

Program Cost: $4,920
$400.00 deposit fee required for enrollment.
Tuition and fees are not included with the program cost.

Eligibility
This program is designed for all students in good standing at the University. While the Program stipulates no minimum grade-point average, applicants must present a transcript demonstrating that they are serious students who will make the most of this opportunity. Applications with a $400 deposit ($50 refundable) are due on or before February 4, 2008 but applications will be accepted after this date on a space available basis. Please note: Enrollment is limited and students are very strongly encouraged to register once online sign up is announced.
Academic Program
Students will receive six ASU credits. All students must enroll in the two cross-listed courses (394 with Dr. Pickus and 494 with Dr. Wang) but will have the choice of taking the courses for Honors and/or Global Studies credit:

Living Accommodations
Students will be housed, double-occupancy, in four-star hotels.
Cost Information
The cost of $4920 (subject to possible change) includes round trip airfare to and from LA; all travel within China, including all inland flights; all lodging; all academic, educational and cultural programs, including admission fees; all local guides and an average of two meals a day. Not included: ASU tuition, transportation to and from LA, passport and visa fees, course books and personal expenses.
The Program may allow for time which can be spent in non-Program activities. Participants may wish to travel, sightsee or participate in activities or events in which they have a personal interest. Please note that the participant is fully responsible for making arrangements and for all costs of transportation, lodging, food and additional expenses that may be associated with any non-Program activities.
